Strategies for Argumentation - Philosophical Focus

Define and defend your own position, separate arguments from emotions with Janek Haschke from MPI-CBS (Leipzig). Learn how to engage in discussions effectively and understand your discussion partners reasoning.

Workshop Hosts:

I would like so sensitize you for basic strategies on how to define your own position, defend it and convince your dialog partner to rethink. It will be about getting to know your own arguments better, understand the point of view your partner has and how to build bridges between them for gaining insights for both sides. In most discussions arguments and emotions are mixed up, the reasoning has gaps and - from a strictly logical perspective - are highly inconsistent. I invite you to practice sorting arguments and emotions, ordering them and put them together in a way that builds the best bridge for the situation. We will do this for typical discussions about sustainability, but those strategies are also very useful in other context.
