On a Max Planck Society level biodiversity and food plays a subordinate role as scientific practises focus less around such activities. However, in their nature those measures can contribute to better overall emission levels and increased awareness for green spaces.

Therefore, our working group tackles biodiversity topics including making institutes' surroundings greener and more biodiverse (actively by adding green spaces and passively by protecting animals, e.g. with bird protectors on glass facades), more plants in the office space and others.

For food topics the working group aims to suggest measures for the local canteens how to offer more sustainable lunch menus, including food sourcing but also waste and packaging management, food sharing fridges and others.
